Version 2026-10 · In force from 18 October 2026
These terms say what Revart lets you do, what you agree to respect and what we do on our side. We wrote them in plain words. If something is unclear, write to contact@revart.art.
Who are we? Revart is published by Gary Bouvet, a sole trader (entrepreneur individuel) based in Bordeaux, France. Full details are in the legal notice. In this text, "Revart", "we" and "our" mean the publisher; "you" means anyone who uses Revart.
1. The service
Revart is an augmented reality creation tool for artists.
- The artist creates: they upload a photo of a physical artwork (painting, drawing, tattoo, sculpture, mural…) and add layers to it: video, image, sound. They place them on the artwork in the Studio, then publish the artwork with its label (cartel) and QR code.
- The public reveals: by pointing a phone camera at the real artwork (in the Revart app or in a browser), they see the artist's animation settle on the artwork.
- Revart also offers artist pages, shows (accrochages), favourites, following artists, and videos filmed by visitors.
Artwork recognition happens on your device: your camera image is not sent to Revart, except a video you choose to publish (section 8).
Not every artwork is animated: only those an artist has prepared in Revart.
2. Accepting these terms
- Viewing an artwork, revealing it in augmented reality or reading its label requires no account. By using Revart without an account, you accept the sections that concern you (in particular 6, 7, 11 and 14).
- By creating an account, you accept all of these terms, including the community rules, which are part of them.
- How we handle your data is described in the privacy policy.
3. Account and age
- You must be 15 or older to create an account. You confirm this by ticking "I am 15 or older". Scanning without an account is open to everyone.
- If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 15, we delete it. A parent can tell us at legal@revart.art.
- An account needs a valid email address and a password of at least 10 characters. Keep your password to yourself: what is done from your account is your responsibility, unless you tell us about fraudulent access.
- Your profile information must be accurate. Impersonating another person, artist or organisation is forbidden.
- An account is personal. A gallery, museum or collective may open an account in its own name.
4. Price
- Revart is free during launch, until 5 January 2027, for artists and visitors alike, with no card required.
- Revart never charges per scan. Viewing an artwork will always be free for the public.
- After launch, paid plans will be offered to artists and organisations. We will announce them at least 30 days in advance, by email and in Revart, together with what changes for your already published artworks.
- Founding artists: artists who sign up during the free launch become "Founding artists". They will get the Artist plan at half price, for life: €4.95 per month instead of €9.90.
- When the free launch ends, the free plan will include 3 published artworks. If you stay on the free plan with more than 3 published artworks, they all stay online; you simply cannot publish a new artwork while you have 3 or more.
- Nothing will be charged without a voluntary subscription on your part. Paid plans will have their own terms of sale, shown before any subscription.
5. Your artworks and the licence you give Revart
5.1 You keep your rights
You remain the owner of your artworks, photos, videos, images and sounds. Revart never becomes the owner of your creations and does not sell them.
5.2 The technical licence (required to publish)
So that Revart can show your animated artwork, you grant Gary Bouvet, publisher of Revart, a licence on the artworks and media you upload. This licence is:
- non-exclusive: you stay free to share your artworks elsewhere, as you wish;
- free of charge: neither you nor Revart pays the other anything for it;
- worldwide: because the website and app are available everywhere;
- limited to running Revart, meaning only the following rights:
- to reproduce your files on our servers and backups (hosting);
- to technically adapt your files: create the artwork's recognition image and thumbnails, change the format, size or compression of videos, images and sounds, crop according to your Studio settings;
- to display and stream the artwork, its label and its layers within Revart: on its page, your artist page, your shows, the feed and the Explore page, in augmented reality in the app and in the browser, and in the printable label and poster you generate;
- for as long as the artwork is online. When you remove an artwork or delete your account, it disappears from Revart and the licence ends; backup copies are erased within 35 days at the latest.
We always credit your artist name with the artwork. We never change the substance of your creations: only the technical adaptations above.
This licence does not allow us to use your artwork in Revart's advertising (see 5.3), to sell it, or to transfer it to anyone else.
5.3 Promotional permission (optional)
When you upload an artwork, a separate box, unticked by default, offers to let Revart show this artwork to promote Revart. Unless this box is ticked, your artwork never appears in our communication. Leaving it unticked changes nothing about how you can use Revart.
If you tick it, you grant a free, non-exclusive, worldwide permission to reproduce and show the artwork (photo, animation, screenshot of the artwork in the app), with your name, only:
- on the revart.art website and in the app (home page, presentation pages);
- on Revart's app store listings (App Store, Google Play);
- on Revart's social media accounts and in its newsletters;
- in Revart's press kits and presentations.
You can withdraw this permission at any time, artwork by artwork, in the Studio or by writing to contact@revart.art. We then stop any new use and, within 30 days, remove what is under our control (website, app, store listings, posts on our accounts). A post already shared by other people or a document already printed may stay in circulation. Otherwise, the permission lasts as long as the artwork is online on Revart.
5.4 Your guarantees
By uploading an artwork and its media, you confirm that:
- you are the author of the artwork, or have its author's written consent (see 5.5);
- you hold the rights to each added media: videos, images, music and sounds (including third-party music);
- for a tattoo, you have the consent of the person who wears it; for an artwork in a private place, the necessary consent; and for any recognisable person in the artwork or media, their consent where the law requires it;
- you respect the community rules.
Owning a painting does not give you the copyright in that painting: you need the artist's consent to animate and publish it.
If someone makes a claim against us because you uploaded content without holding the rights, you are answerable for it. We will warn you before taking any step and let you explain.
5.5 Galleries, museums and organisations uploading an artist's work
A gallery, museum or other organisation may upload a living artist's work provided that it:
- has the artist's written consent to animate and publish it on Revart, and confirms this by ticking the box provided ("I have the artist's written consent");
- gives the artist's real name;
- can show us this consent if the artist or an authority asks.
The organisation then grants the licence in section 5.2 on the artist's behalf, within the limits of the consent received. It only ticks the promotion box (5.3) if the artist has agreed to it.
"I am the artist": an artist who finds their work uploaded by an organisation can tap this button on the artwork's page. After verification, they can move the artwork to their own account, edit it or have it removed. If no written consent exists, the artwork is removed.
5.6 Revart
The Revart name, logo, interface, code and texts belong to Gary Bouvet. You may print and share the label, QR code and poster of your own artworks. For anything else, please ask Revart for written consent.
6. What is forbidden
Details, with examples, are in the community rules. In short, you may not publish or share on Revart:
- illegal content: hate, harassment, threats, glorification of terrorism or crime, gratuitous violence, invasion of privacy, defamation;
- pornographic or sexually explicit content; any sexual content involving a minor is reported to the authorities (non-sexual artistic nudity remains allowed);
- an identifiable minor (visible face, name…) in a visitor video or in media, except the artwork itself when it depicts them with their parents' consent;
- a deepfake: an image, video or sound that realistically imitates a real person. It is forbidden without that person's consent, and forbidden in all cases if it can deceive, harm their reputation or is sexual; when allowed, it must be labelled as created or altered with AI;
- someone else's artwork or media without their permission, or an artwork already published on Revart by its author (copying, impersonation);
- a photo of a person without their consent where the law requires it;
- hidden advertising, spam, misleading links or phishing;
- a file containing a virus or malicious code.
It is also forbidden to disrupt Revart: trying to access other people's accounts, bypassing technical limits, mass-scraping the site, or creating fake accounts.
7. Blocking and reporting
- Block: when signed in, you can block an account. Its content is no longer shown to you.
- Report: anyone, with or without an account, can report an artwork, an artist page or a video with the "Report" link, or by writing to legal@revart.art. Without an account, the number of reports per day is capped to prevent abuse; if the cap is reached, sign in or write to legal@revart.art, which is always open. This is also how a person who was filmed can ask for the removal of a video showing them, without having to prove any copyright.
So that we can act quickly (Regulation (EU) 2022/2065 on digital services, "DSA", art. 16), a report contains:
- the exact location of the content (page link, or the artwork and artist names);
- why you believe the content is illegal or breaks these terms;
- your name and email address. They are optional, but without an email we cannot reply. They are not requested to report child sexual abuse material;
- a sentence confirming that you act in good faith and that your information is accurate and complete.
If you leave an email address, you receive an automatic acknowledgement, then our decision and its reasons.
Repeated abusive reports (unfounded, meant to harm) may lead us to stop handling reports from their author for a while, after a warning.
8. Visitor videos
In the app, a signed-in visitor can film an animated artwork and offer the video to the artist. This section explains what this means for everyone.
8.1 How it works
- The video combines your camera image and the artwork's animation. The app does not use the microphone: the video only contains the animation's sound, never the room's or your voice.
- You can keep the video on your phone without publishing it.
- An offered video is visible to no one else until the artwork's artist approves it. The artist does not see your email address.
- 60 seconds at most, 3 videos offered per day.
8.2 What you guarantee
By offering a video, you confirm that:
- you filmed it yourself, in a place where filming was allowed;
- you have the consent of recognisable people appearing in it (right to one's image, art. 9 of the French Civil Code);
- it shows no minor in an identifiable way, other than yourself;
- it respects the community rules.
8.3 What you accept when sending
When you send the video, a screen reminds you of these points and you accept them with a deliberate action. You keep your rights in your video and grant the publisher of Revart a non-exclusive, free, worldwide licence, limited to:
- hosting the video and making technical copies (thumbnail, format conversion, backup);
- displaying it within Revart only: on the artwork's page, the artist's page, their shows and the Revart feed, credited "Filmed by a visitor" or with your display name;
- for as long as the filmed artwork is online.
This licence does not allow us to use your video in Revart's advertising or to transfer it to anyone else. The artist may only use it outside Revart with your consent.
If you delete your account, an approved video that shows no face and no voice may stay on the artwork's page, without your name, credited "Filmed by a visitor", for as long as the artwork is online. Videos showing a face or a voice are deleted with your account.
8.4 Asking for a video to be removed
The author of a video can ask for its removal at any time with the "Request removal" form, giving the reason (or at legal@revart.art). The Revart team handles the request within 30 days, and within 24 hours if the video shows a face, a voice or a minor. The video is removed if it shows a face, a voice or another identifiable person (with the author's agreement, muting the sound or blurring the relevant part may be enough), or for any other legitimate reason. Otherwise, it may stay online for as long as the artwork is online, without the author's name, credited "Filmed by a visitor". We explain our decision, which can be challenged. Anyone who was filmed can ask for removal in the same way, with the "Report" link or at legal@revart.art, within the same timeframes; a video showing an identifiable minor is always removed.
Challenges follow section 9.4. A video that breaks the law is removed without waiting.
8.5 The artist's role
- The artist approves or declines each video. By approving it, they authorise the reproduction of their artwork and animation in that video, on Revart.
- They undertake to approve only videos that respect these terms, and they can remove an approved video at any time.
- Revart has the final say: we can decline or remove a video that breaks the law or these terms, even once approved.
9. Moderation: how we decide
9.1 Who moderates, and how fast
Moderation is done by a person: Gary Bouvet, publisher of Revart. We review every report carefully and objectively. Our timeframes:
- 72 hours at most to decide after a report;
- 24 hours for serious content (harm to minors, violence, hate, threats, non-consensual sexual content);
- 1 hour after a removal order for terrorist content from an authority (Regulation (EU) 2021/784).
If a person's life or safety is threatened, we alert the authorities (in France: police, gendarmerie, the PHAROS platform). Content removed following a terrorist content order is kept securely for 6 months, as the law requires.
9.2 Automated tools
Revart uses a few automated tools. None of them deletes content or an account on its own: they can only put a publication on hold, and they tell you why.
- Photo score (0 to 5): on upload, Revart scores the artwork photo on how well the camera will recognise it. Below 3, publication is put on hold and Revart explains what to fix. You can lift this hold by confirming that recognition works on the real artwork.
- Duplicate detection: Revart compares the uploaded photo with already published artworks. If it is the same artwork another account has already published, publication is put on hold. Contact us if you are the author: we check by hand.
- Previously removed images: an image removed for a serious reason cannot be published again.
- Anti-abuse limits: number of uploads, reports and videos per day.
The feed and Explore page mainly show recent artworks and videos; Revart sells no promotion.
9.3 What we can decide
Depending on how serious it is: ask for a correction, hide or remove content, limit a feature (for example posting videos), suspend the account for a while, or close it. We choose the lightest measure that is enough.
9.4 Statement of reasons and challenging a decision
Whenever we remove or hide your content, or limit or suspend your account, we send you a message (DSA, art. 17) stating:
- what we decided, and for how long;
- the facts behind the decision, and whether it follows a report;
- whether an automated tool was used;
- the rule involved: the law (which one) or the section of these terms;
- how to challenge it.
You can challenge the decision by replying to this message or writing to legal@revart.art, within 6 months. We review the decision and answer within 15 days. The person who made a report can also challenge our decision in the same way. In all cases you keep the right to go to court.
We keep a record of reports and decisions for 12 months.
10. Artificial intelligence (AI)
- Revart's catalogue: artworks on the official "Revart" account are made for Revart, often with AI tools, under the responsibility of Gary Bouvet. They carry the mention "made with AI" on their label and wherever they are shown (Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 on AI, art. 50). They are never presented as the work of a human artist.
- Your artworks: you may use AI to create your animations. A "Made with AI" box adds this mention to your label. It is mandatory when your content realistically shows a real person, place or event that could be taken as genuine.
- Revart does not use your artworks to train AI and does not provide them to anyone for that purpose.
11. Availability and liability
- We do our best to keep Revart working well and without interruption, but we cannot guarantee it: maintenance, outages at our providers, incidents. We announce planned maintenance in advance when possible.
- Keep a copy of your original files. Revart is not a backup service.
- For content you publish, Revart is a host: we do not check it before publication (except the tools in section 9.2 and the artist's approval of videos) and we are not liable for it until we are told it is illegal. We act quickly once it is reported.
- We are not liable for indirect damage (for example a lost opportunity) or for misuse of Revart by another user.
- Legal guarantee of conformity: if you are a consumer, Revart must supply digital content and services that conform to what is announced, for the whole period of supply (French Consumer Code, art. L224-25-12 et seq.). If something does not conform, you can have it brought into conformity free of charge or, failing that, obtain a price reduction or end the contract. Write to support@revart.art.
- These limits do not apply in case of gross negligence or wilful misconduct on our part, personal injury, or to rights the law guarantees you that a contract cannot override, in particular if you are a consumer.
12. Suspension and closing an account
You can delete your account at any time from "My account". It is hidden immediately and permanently deleted 30 days later; you can cancel until then by signing in again. Your artworks are deleted with it. What remains after deletion (visitor videos with no face or voice, section 8.3; data the law requires us to keep) is described in the privacy policy.
We can suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms or the law, giving you the reasons (section 9.4). Before closing any account, we always send a prior warning, except for a serious breach (for example seriously illegal content, harm to a minor, a risk to other people) or a legal obligation. For an artist or organisation account, we also give 30 days' notice before closing it permanently, with the same exceptions.
If Revart were to shut down, we would tell you at least 60 days in advance so you can retrieve your data ("Export my data" in "My account").
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example for a new feature or a change in the law.
- For an important change (for example the arrival of paid plans or a change to your rights), we notify you at least 30 days in advance, by email and in Revart. If you disagree, you can delete your account before the change takes effect, at no cost.
- A minor correction (spelling, a clarification that does not change your rights) or a change required by law within a shorter period may apply sooner; it is dated on this page.
Each version is dated. Previous versions are available on request.
14. Governing law and disputes
- These terms are governed by French law.
- If we disagree, please write to us first at contact@revart.art: we will look for an amicable solution.
- Failing that, the French courts have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living in another European Union country, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of your country and may also bring a case before the courts where you live.
- These terms exist in French and English. In case of difference, the French version prevails.
15. United States: copyright (DMCA)
For users in the United States, Revart follows the Digital Millennium Copyright Act procedure (17 U.S.C. § 512). It comes in addition to the reporting in section 7, open to everyone.
- Designated agent to receive notices: [à enregistrer], legal@revart.art.
- Notice: in writing, sent to the agent, it contains: (1) the physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or of a person authorised to act for them; (2) the copyrighted work concerned; (3) the infringing material and its location on Revart; (4) your name, address, phone number and email; (5) a statement that you have a good faith belief that the use is not authorised by the owner, its agent or the law; (6) a statement that the information is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorised to act for the owner.
- Counter-notice: if your content was removed by mistake or misidentification, you can send the agent: (1) your physical or electronic signature; (2) the removed material and the location where it appeared; (3) a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief it was removed by mistake or misidentification; (4) your name, address and phone number, and your consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your district (or, if you live outside the United States, any judicial district in which Revart may be found) and to accept service of process from the person who sent the notice. We forward the counter-notice to that person and restore the content 10 to 14 business days later, unless they tell us they have filed a court action.
- A false statement may make its author liable. After a warning, we close the account of a user who repeatedly infringes copyright.
16. United Kingdom
If you are in the United Kingdom:
- Online Safety Act 2023: you can report illegal content and complain (about how we handled a report, a removal, or a limitation or suspension of an account) with the "Report" link or at legal@revart.art. We handle these complaints like the challenges in section 9.4, within the same timeframes.
- Your data is protected by the UK GDPR; you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
- If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of your country and can go to its courts.
17. Contact us
